Description
This dress is inspired by the 1940s, characterised by square shoulders, narrow hips, and knee-length skirts, reflecting the era's fashion trends. Due to fabric rationing, the design features darts, pleats, tucks, and small gathers for visual interest rather than full skirts and sleeves.
Based on an original hand-sewn dress from the late 1940s, when fabric became more available, it served both daily wear and evening outings. The dress showcases an intriguing bodice construction with shoulder and waist pleats and darts, complemented by a shawl collar. Skirt darts enhance the silhouette while providing comfort in the hip area. Elbow-length sleeves with cuffs ensure versatility for year-round wear, while an invisible side zipper ensures a seamless closure.
