Description

The Heather blazer is a contemporary and relaxed take on traditional structured jackets. This effortlessly stylish and comfortable piece boasts a slightly oversized fit, making it suitable for all seasons. Its versatility makes it an excellent choice for layering and adding a touch of editorial flair to any outfit. Even if you're a beginner in sewing, don't fret as this pattern is designed to be beginner-friendly, making it an ideal starting point for anyone who has been intimidated by making outerwear before.

Fabric Suggestions

The Heather Blazer is tailored for woven fabrics but it can be made with a range of fabrics, as long as they have a bit of weight to them.

Great options include linen, suiting, twill, denim, and canvas. However, it's advisable to avoid fabrics that can't take a press, since there is a fair amount of fusible interfacing involved in this project.

When it comes to lining fabric, opt for a fabric that can easily slide on and off over other fabrics. Anything with a slightly slippery texture will work well, such as viscose, silk, or a cotton with a tight weave.

It's essential to use woven interfacing that looks like fabric (not the papery kind) and is fusible. While the papery kind can work in a pinch, investing in the woven type will give your blazer a much nicer feel. Additionally, consider using knit interfacing to reinforce the collar and lapel without making them too stiff. This type of interfacing looks like fabric but has stretch.

Delighted with this blazer....made it in mustard cotton/linen mix with leaf blue satin lining. Recommend viewing You Tube tutorial, especially for the hem. It is VERY large!....made it several sizes smaller.
